U.S. Department of Justice

The United States Department of Justice (“DOJ”) is a division of the United States government designed to enforce the federal laws, defend the interests of the United States and to ensure fair and impartial administration of justice for all Americans.

The DOJ Tax Division is responsible for the prosecution of both civil and criminal cases arising under the U.S. tax laws.  The Tax Division works closely with the IRS to ensure the tax laws are properly enforced.  The Tax Division also works with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”), Federal Trade Commission, Federal Bureau of Investigation and other federal agencies to protect the integrity of the U.S. financial market.

The DOJ Criminal Division is charged with prosecuting violations of fraud and other economic, or “white collar,” crimes.

The Department of Justice attorneys represent the U.S. government in federal litigation in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and in U.S. district court, U.S. courts of appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court.  They are skilled litigators, and they have the full resources of the federal government at their disposal.
