Washington DC Tax Lawyer - Thorn Law Group
Peter Rho serves as an associate with Thorn Law Group, where he concentrates his practice on national and international tax law matters. He has brought several cases before state tax authorities and federal courts, including the IRS Office of Appeals, U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Tax Court and U.S. District Courts. With extensive knowledge in local and foreign tax regulations, Mr. Rho is able to assist individual taxpayers, tax professionals, accounting firms, law firms, corporations, partnerships, banks and other entities with a broad range of civil and criminal tax matters.
Voluntary Disclosure Agreements and Amnesty Programs
Mr. Rho advises clients who have undisclosed offshore accounts and assets to take advantage of the many IRS amnesty programs available to taxpayers. By assisting individuals and businesses in making voluntary disclosures of their foreign accounts to the IRS, Mr. Rho helps clients avoid severe financial penalties and reduces their risk of being criminally prosecuted by the IRS and Department of Justice.
Resolving Audit Disputes and Tax Debts
In addition to IRS amnesty programs, Mr. Rho handles cases involving IRS tax audits, audit reconsiderations and protests of proposed adjustments at the federal and state levels. He also helps clients find alternative and reasonable solutions to satisfy tax debts in order to avoid liens and levies on their properties. Depending on the individual situation at hand, Mr. Rho may assist clients in collection due process hearings, offers in compromise or requests for penalty abatement.
Currently a member of the Virginia Bar and Association and the American Bar Association, Mr. Rho is admitted to practice in Virginia.
